The Student Parliament (StuPa) - often abbreviated to StuPa - is the highest decision-making body of the student body and is responsible for the tasks assigned to it by the Landeshochschulgesetz (State Higher Education Act).
The student parliament consists of up to 27 members with voting rights, who are elected by all enrolled students within the framework of the student body elections. The newly elected parliament is constituted at the beginning of April. From this meeting, the parliament is in office for approximately one year until the next student parliament is constituted and meets regularly every fortnight on Tuesdays from 8 p.m. during the lecture period. In total, there are between 15 and 20 regular meetings per legislature, often with a few extraordinary meetings in addition. A meeting lasts between two and four hours, depending on the down payment and scope of the requests submitted.
There are various working groups and committees to deal with specific sub-areas, which work on both content and formal aspects in more detail, usually in smaller groups, and then submit their results to the student parliament in a so-called draft resolution.

Advising members
Members who belong to the parliament in an advisory capacity but are not entitled to vote due to an office or other elections in accordance with the statutes of the student body.
These are the student members of the Academic Senate as well as the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Student Council.
The parliament is chaired by a one- to three-member presidium that prepares, chairs and follows up on the meetings. Preparation includes organising suitable premises, issuing invitations (with a provisional agenda) and a printed package containing all important documents for the meetings (requests, rectifications, applications, etc.). The post-processing mainly involves copying the decisions made and revising the report of the meeting.
