The second meeting of the "AG International" took place on the 2nd of March 2023 at 6:20 pm. The start of the session was postponed due to the demonstration against right-wing tendencies in Greifswald.
One representative from the "Local Erasmus Initiative" (LEI), one representative from the "Greifswald International Students Festival" (GrIStuF e.V.), four representatives from the International Office and AStA and three international students attended the second AG meeting.
As a first step, attendees were invited to briefly introduce themselves and their organisations.
Since new faces were present at the meeting, it was also necessary to do a summary of the AG Milestones so far. (For more information, please read the last entry of AG International).
Afterward, the AG president election took place, and Karen Senna was unanimously elected as the head chair of AG International with eight out of eight votes. Following her election, Karen thanked the voters for their support and promised to give her best to lead the organisation forward.
The next topic discussed was the Evaluation/Feedback of the International Brunch that took place at IBZ on the 04.02.2023. According to the students attending the brunch, the event was a great opportunity to connect and meet new peers, as well as sharing their stories and experience about studying in Greifswald. Another highlight mentioned, was to get in touch with local and foreign food and share their meals together. The AG International was strongly encouraged to continue this kind of event. As a response to the student's wishes, the members of the
AG International decided to make this specific event happen on a regular basis. It is now settled that the next brunch will take place on the 26th of March,
also on IBZ.
The meeting went on with the topic "Freshman week", which will take place from the 3rd to the 9th of April. It is decided that the AG International will host a
"Welcome Day/party" for the new incoming students. In addition to this topic, more internal issues remain open, such as finding a party venue. More information will be posted as soon as possible.
The following topic was brainstorming about the future project "Language Buddy". The idea so far is to create a platform where students can upload a profile and either offer their language skills as a tandem, or get help from other students.
As for future projects, events such as the Eurovision Watch party, Speed-a-friend meeting and an event for the Muslim community were also taken in account.
Finally, it was time to hear the suggestion of present International Students attendees. Their suggestions include the facilitation to access to mental health services as an international student. With the focus on creating a more safe space to digest migration experiences as an international student, a possibility presented by the members of the AG, is to expand the "Volunteering in Greifswald" consultation hours to an anti-discrimination conversation space and work as a mediator to help to find mental health services.
The meeting ended at 19:41, with the agreement that the next meeting still needs to be scheduled.
Diese neue Arbeitsgruppe soll einen besseren Informationsaustausch zwischen den verschiedenen Vereinen und Institutionen, die mit internationalen Studierenden arbeiten, fördern, gemeinsame Projekte ins Leben rufen und als gemeinsames Unterstützungsnetzwerk agieren.
Die zweite Sitzung der "AG International" fand am 2. März 2023 um 18:20 Uhr statt. Der Beginn der Sitzung wurde aufgrund der Demonstration am Marktplatz verschoben.
An der zweiten AG-Sitzung nahmen ein Vertreter der "Lokalen Erasmus Initiative" (LEI), eine Vertreterin des "Greifswald International Students Festival" (GrIStuF e.V.), vier Vertreterinnen des International office und des AStA sowie drei internationale Studierende teil.
In einem ersten Schritt wurden die Teilnehmer gebeten, sich und ihre Organisationen kurz vorzustellen.
Da neue Personen an dem Treffen teilnahmen, war es auch notwendig, eine Zusammenfassung der bisherigen Meilensteine der AG zu geben. (Für weitere Informationen lesen Sie bitte den letzten Eintrag der AG International. Link).
Danach fand die Wahl der AG-Vorsitzenden statt, und Karen Senna wurde einstimmig mit acht von acht Stimmen zur Vorsitzenden der AG International gewählt. Nach ihrer Wahl dankte Karen den Wähler*innen für ihre Unterstützung und versprach, ihr Bestes zu geben, um die Arbeit der Organisation weiterzuführen.
Das nächste Thema war die Auswertung/Feedback des Internationalen Brunch, der am 04.02.2023 im IBZ stattfand. Nach Meinung der anwesenden Studierenden war der Brunch eine sehr gute Gelegenheit, neue Kommilitonen kennenzulernen und sich über ihre Erfahrungen mit dem Studium in Greifswald auszutauschen. Ein weiteres Highlight war die Möglichkeit, mit lokalen und internationalen Speisen in Kontakt zu kommen und gemeinsam zu essen. Die AG International wurde nachdrücklich ermutigt, diese Art von Veranstaltung fortzusetzen. Als Reaktion auf die Wünsche der Studenten haben die Mitglieder der AG International beschlossen, diese spezielle Veranstaltung regelmäßig stattfinden zu lassen. Es steht nun fest, dass der nächste Brunch am 26. März stattfinden wird, ebenfalls im IBZ.
Weiter ging es mit dem Thema "Erstsemesterwoche", die vom 3. bis 9. April stattfinden wird. Es wurde beschlossen, dass die AG International einen/eine "Welcome Day/Party" für die neu ankommenden Studierenden veranstalten wird. Zusätzlich zu diesem Thema, sind noch weitere interne Fragen offen, wie zum Beispiel die Suche nach einem Veranstaltungsort für die Party. Weitere Informationen werden so bald wie möglich bekannt gegeben.
Das nächste Thema war ein Brainstorming über das zukünftige Projekt "Language Buddy". Die bisherige Idee ist es, eine Plattform zu schaffen, auf der Studierende ein Profil hochladen und entweder ihre Sprachkenntnisse als Tandem anbieten oder Hilfe von anderen Studierenden erhalten können.
Was künftige Projekte angeht, so wurden auch Veranstaltungen wie die Eurovision Watch Party, das Speed-a-friend-Treffen und eine Veranstaltung für die muslimische Gemeinschaft angesprochen.
Schließlich war es an der Zeit, die Vorschläge der anwesenden internationalen Studenten zu hören. Zu ihren Vorschlägen gehört die Erleichterung des Zugangs zu psychologischer Betreuung als internationale Studierende.
Im Hinblick auf die Schaffung eines sicheren Raums für die Aufarbeitung von Migrationserfahrungen wurde von den Mitgliedern der AG die Möglichkeit vorgeschlagen, die Sprechstunde "Freiwilliges Engagement in Greifswald" zu einem Anti-Diskriminierungs-Gesprächsraum zu erweitern und als Mediator*in bei der Suche nach psychischen Betreuungsangeboten zu helfen.
Die Sitzung endete um 19:41 Uhr. Der Termin für das nächste Treffen muss noch festgelegt werden.
